
What is Counselling?
Counselling and therapy offers you the space to sit with another and be with whatever is happening for you at this time.
Together we sit for 50 minutes, either online or face to face. Weekly is best.
Gestalt therapy believes that coming closer to your own inner world, as well as your outer world, helps give you the choice to feel whole again. It does this by inviting you to become aware. Aware of patterns that supported you as you moved through the challenges of your life. but which may now not be so helpful. But they may. Without seeing them how can you know?
Even if something outside of you caused the suffering, we work together to be with whatever wants to arise. This is often liberating, and it helps restore the inborn creativity of your unique self. And this in turn gives you fresh choices over how you respond to your life in future.
I was drawn to Gestalt because it suited my creative playfulness, and this is inherent in the things we might do in our time together. Interwoven with the foundation of compassionate listening, we may use imagery, sound, short guided meditation and short story.
What we experience is felt equally in our body, so finding gentle ways to help calm the nervous system, is not only healing, but can also create a safe space to access feelings that may be buried in the thinking mind.
To share your journey of healing with another is the heart of talking therapy. To be supported, seen, and heard with compassion and acceptance while you breathe into the possibilities and the suffering, creates the unique client-therapist bond.
I may at times challenge you, but I will always, to the best of my ability, be beside you as you rediscover your joyful sense of being perfectly imperfect, and complete.
